The Hockey Pravda reports that Ak Bars Kazan will sign Viktor Tikhonov. With his contract allowing him to play in Europe if he doesn’t make the NHL team, looks like the Russians are lining up to be Teek’s Plan B.
Darian Dziurzynski, one of our draftees this year, is at camp for the Saskatoon Blades, the team he played for last season. In the Blue vs White game yesterday, he scored a hat trick. It’s just a scrimmage game, so not a big deal right? Well, he’s typically known as a gritty kid that is a fighter, so his offensive upside is pretty intriguing. Can’t wait to see what he brings to camp.
It looks like Alex Bolduc, a center we signed this summer that has some NHL experience, won’t be ready to go for the start of the year due to a shoulder issue. This even further weakens our depth at center. Eeep!
Prospect Andrew Fritsch, another draftee from this summer, won’t be returning to Owen Sound, the junior team he was with last season. This weekend he’ll be heading out to Sault Ste. Marie to be a Greyhound. Andrew had 28 goals and 35 assists (63 points) along with a +17 rating in 60 games.
With the newest GMDM interview saying that he’s actively working on a trade to bring in an experienced center, it looks like we’ll be losing a draft pick or player soon. With our maybe we’ll open up a forward spot for Teeks. *hopes*
There are “rumors” that the guy being brought in could be Scott Gomez. There’s another “rumor” that it could be Erik Christensen. Gomez is too expensive, but he has the skill for the top line that we are lacking. Unlikely to happen because of the $$$$$. Christensen? Christ, Korpikoski is a better option if he can improve on the dot.
