This, That, and the Other

So there is good news and bad news.  What do you want first?

The bad news?  Good choice.  I always pick the bad news first too.

So Dave Vest wrote that the Coyotes have invited……………………. KYLE WELLWOOD to camp for a tryout.  UGH!  He is a center.  With Wolski, Fiddy, and Marty, we already have three center spots accounted for.  That leaves Turris to fight off Andrew Ebbett and now Kyle Wellwood for the last spot.

Kyle vs Kyle. Seriously?

I thought Turris had this all wrapped up and wasn’t even worried about it!  Wellwood had 14 goals and 11 assists in 75 games for the Canucks.  Turris had 24 goals and 39 assists………. in San Antonio 😦 .

So who is being backed by this here little blog?

WELLWOOD IF YOU EAT TURRIS, I WILL SHANK YOU AND GRAVY WILL RUN OUT.

I will be OPENLY rooting for Turris to make the team.  Therefore, I must also OPENLY root against Wellwood.  Such is hockey life.

I need one of these FOR SURE

So… GO TURRIS!

Also, if by some accident Wellwood stays instead of Turris………. I 100% am doing this to him:

BOOM!

Alright on to the good news.  Good news, not great news.

HAI MARTY! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?!!

So his contract isn’t signed.  But GMDM will  GET IT DONE!  And he’s in town, ready to show up to camp as soon as the ink is on the paper.  Good feelingz:  I haz them!

Oh yeah.  And a small event happened.

I may or may not have gotten an amazing package in the mail that may or may not contain one of the sickest jerseys I’ve ever seen.

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

As much we all want KT91 to fill out his potential and be a great second or first line center, remember he’s only got 1 full season of AHL experience. Andrew Ebbett was brought in to be simply a hurdle for Turris to pass. But if Turris still isn’t ready to make the full time NHL, I feel better with Kyle Wellwood than Andrew Ebbett as a fourth center (I’m sure the Yotes staff feels the same, assuming Wellwood’s in shape). Wellwood can put up 15 goals and 20-30 pts as a fourth liner, has got good hands, and is a bigger presence than Ebbett (insert fat jokes here). In the long run, the Yotes want and expect Turris to take the reigns and move up the depth chart, but if he still needs more seasoning, Wellwood is a proven competitor (7 pts in 12 playoff games with the Canucks last season) and more dependable and productive than Ebbett on the 4th line. I’m rooting for Wellwood to make the team, because I know he’s a solid depth guy (in case of injury) and a comfortable stopgag in case Turris regresses.
