2010 Draft ~ Round 1 ~ Jackpot Baby!

The 2010 draft started off with a bang for the Coyotes as we were able to drug the teams ahead of us into skipping over Brandon Gormley and letting us steal him with the 13th overall pick.  Seriously, this kid was supposed to go in the top six but there was a run on forwards and it paid off for us in a huge way.  According to the Coyotes website, Gormley, 18, recorded 9-34-43 and 54 penalty minutes (PIM) in 58 games with the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) last season. He finished with a +31 rating, which ranked 3rd on his team. Gormley also registered 2-15-17 in 21 playoff games, which ranked 3rd among QMJHL defensemen in the playoffs, to help lead Moncton to the 2010 QMJHL Championship.

Keith Yandle also played for Moncton.  Yandle also is a good puck handling Dman.  Yandle also wore #3.  OMG DID WE USE THE HOT TUB TIME MACHINE TO GO BACK AND CLONE YANDLE?  Win!

Welcome to the Pack

You let me play? I ready! Look I haz jersey and everything!

Gormley really stacks our Dman prospects.  With Max and Oliver coming to camp for sure, it will make it very tough for Brandon to break through, but it will lead to a very strong unit for upcoming years.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson was unreachable for comment. He also hogs the remotes.

The Good, The Bad, the Coyotes has learned that Ekman-Larsson is very, very, very motivated to make the Coyotes NHL roster this year, if only to have the funds available to buy some clothing and to have a climate where rain isn’t a concern.

What? Why? Oh Oliver. You need to come here.
